| Description | JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Principal works with the Principal to provide instructional, student, and operational leadership for Wynne High School. The position supports high student achievement, effective teaching, a safe and orderly campus, and a positive school culture grounded in Excellence, Pride, and Community. The Assistant Principal is expected to be visible, student-centered, consistent, collaborative, and committed to helping every student succeed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree; current Arkansas teaching license; and Arkansas Building-Level Administrator certification or other appropriate administrative certification.
- Minimum of three years of successful public education experience, including classroom teaching experience.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum, instruction, assessment, student discipline, attendance, school improvement, and applicable laws and policies.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, organization, problem-solving, data-analysis, and decision-making skills.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Promote high expectations for student achievement, attendance, behavior, and staff performance while protecting the welfare and safety of students and staff through effective supervision.
- Serve as an instructional leader through classroom walkthroughs, observations, evaluation, clear feedback, PLC/CTM participation, and differentiated support for teachers.
- Assist with implementation of a comprehensive, rigorous, and coherent curriculum that provides students with personalized, engaging learning experiences; support strong Tier I instruction and targeted Tier II intervention through WYN Time and other intervention efforts.
- Use achievement, attendance, behavior, and intervention data to identify needs, participate in School Improvement Plan development, and guide school improvement decisions.
- Assist with professional development, new-teacher orientation and support, and implementation of school instructional priorities.
- Administer student discipline fairly and consistently with appropriate due process; communicate expectations and procedures and address student behavioral concerns.
- Monitor daily attendance and chronic absenteeism in partnership with students, families, staff, and juvenile services in accordance with district policy.
- Build positive relationships with students and families; confer with parents and staff regarding academic, behavioral, and learning concerns and counsel students as appropriate.
- Maintain a visible administrative presence before and after school, during class changes, assemblies, and assigned school activities; supervise student activities and attend school functions as scheduled by the Principal.
- Assist with safety procedures and emergency drills, maintain the Crisis Management Manual, and support a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
- Manage and supervise classified personnel, substitute teachers, custodial staff, campus supervisors, and other support staff as assigned through effective delegation, planning, supervision, and evaluation.
- In partnership with the Principal, help manage school resources, including budgets, personnel, facilities, and equipment, to support student achievement and comply with district policies and procedures.
- Foster a positive school culture grounded in Excellence, Pride, and Community through effective communication, collaboration, accountability, and engagement with all stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal and administrative team, communicate significant concerns promptly, model integrity, professionalism, initiative, teamwork, and sound judgment, and perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise students, staff, programs, activities, and other areas as assigned by the Principal.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent standing and walking, occasional travel, and attendance at school activities outside the regular school day as assigned. Must be able to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, and remain calm and productive under pressure.
